It All Starts With Coffee!

“It all starts with coffee!”

Every morning my husband Kent wakes up and starts the coffee brewing process!

I lazily stay in bed until I can smell the aroma of the coffee flowing up to our upstairs bedroom, and then I happily get up knowing it is waiting for me downstairs!

It is our morning ritual. We get out our bibles, pour a good cup of our roasted coffee and sit down to read in our favorite spot.

It all starts with coffee. It is the secret place where we read, listen and then talk to Him.

I am not sure if people even realize the joy and peace you get spending some time alone with the creator of the universe first thing in the morning!

 Scriptures state in Psalm 5:3

“In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.”

Psalm 59:16  “But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.”

Jesus & Coffee are my two favorite things especially in the morning!

Many people don’t know where to begin when they open a bible.

I say start in the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke & John)  or the book of Romans.

Then read  Proverbs for each day.

There are literally thirty one proverbs, one for each day. They are all filled with wisdom for life!

Then when you start reading ask yourself these questions:

“What is this saying about God?”

“What is this asking of me?”

“How can I apply this to my life?”

After you are done reading then sit quietly to listen. He will talk to you. His voice sounds like your own. Write down anything you hear or sense.

You can also worship Him and tell Him the great things He has done for you or who He is to you.

I have a notebook or journal. I date it, I also write out a prayer and I write down scriptures I read that make an impression on my heart. I also write down things I feel God is speaking to me about whether for people or attitudes I may have that need to change. Today I read about not casting your pearls before swine and I felt like God was saying “be careful what you share with others  because some people may not appreciate the precious things you  give or share with them.”

Spending time with the LORD is like plugging your cell phone into the charger! You get energized and filled by His presence! Start with coffee & Jesus every day and see how your life will change for the good!

Merry Christmas! 🎄

Happy New Year! 🎉

God bless you, keep you and make His face to shine upon you!
